System Requirements

TexMaths requires the following softwares to be installed on your system:

TexMaths in action

In the above list, only one of the dvipng or dvisvgm programs is mandatory.

Installation on Windows

  1. Install a basic MikTex.
  2. The program dvipng is contained in the MikTex package, so you don't have to provide it.
  3. Optionally install dvisvgm (version 1.0.8 or later). You simply have to download the program and extract it into any directory. The most simple is to add it to your MikTex bin directory.
  4. Open LibreOffice Writer and install the TexMaths extension using the Tools / Extension manager menu. If asked, select the "Only for me" option.
  5. Close and reopen LibreOffice Writer. You will see the new TexMaths toolbar. Click on the TexMaths System Configuration icon and fill the paths of your programs.
  6. Run TexMaths by clicking on one of the TexMaths Equations icons.

Installation on Linux

  1. Install TexLive (on Debian based systems : sudo apt-get install texlive).
  2. Optionally install dvipng (on Debian based systems : sudo apt-get install dvipng).
  3. dvisvgm is now included by default in the texlive-binaries package, so no need to install it separately.
  4. Open LibreOffice Writer and install the TexMaths extension using the Tools / Extension manager menu.
  5. Close and reopen LibreOffice Writer. You will see the new TexMaths toolbar. Click on the TexMaths System Configuration icon and fill the paths of your programs (usually /usr/bin for all).
  6. Run TexMaths by clicking on one of the TexMaths Equations icons.

Installation on Mac OS X

  1. Install MacTex 2016. The programs dvipng and dvisvgm are contained in the default MacTex 2016 package, so you don't have to provide it. Alternative installation may require dvipng and dvisvgm addition by means of Tex Live Utility.
  2. Open LibreOffice Writer and install the TexMaths extension using the Tools / Extension manager menu.
  3. Close and reopen LibreOffice Writer. You will see the new TexMaths toolbar. Click on the TexMaths System Configuration icon and fill the paths of your programs (normally /Library/TeX/texbin for all).
  4. Run TexMaths by clicking on one of the TexMaths Equations icons.
